For the nervous
A gym for people
who do not like gyms.No swipe card, no gym floor to work it out on your own, no wall of mirrors. A private coached gym in Clydebank with never more than 30 people in a session. Every session coached by Stevie.
The bit nobody says out loud
Plenty of people who want to get fitter are not put off by the training. They are put off by the gym: walking in, not knowing where anything is, standing at a machine with no idea, and the feeling that everyone else has done this before. It is a real reason and it stops more people than the price does.
This place was set up the other way round. You are not let in and left to it. You are coached, from the first rep of your first session, by the same person every time.
What is not here
- No swipe card and no turnstile. Somebody knows your name at the door.
- No gym floor to wander around deciding what to do. The session is written before you arrive.
- No queue for a rack, because there are never more than 30 people in the gym.
- No contract and no direct debit ticking over in the background. A block has a start date and an end date.
- No shop. Nothing is sold here except the coaching.
What is
A private gym inside Spectrum House, an office building on Clydebank Business Park, with its own kit, changing space and toilets. Free parking at the door. 50-minute coached sessions: 6am classes Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 5:40pm classes Monday to Wednesday and Saturday 9am Sanctuary Total Body, plus Personal Training slots through the week for anybody who would rather not start in a class at all.
The way in, if you are dreading it
- Ask the questions by message first. Every one of them. Stevie answers himself and nobody is standing over you while you read it.
- Free ten-minute consult. Gym or phone, your choice. If the phone is easier, take the phone.
- Come and watch a class. Stand at the back, see what fifty minutes looks like, leave. No obligation and no sales pitch.
- Do one. Scaled to you, with somebody expecting you at the door.
If a class is still too much after all that, the Personal Training slots exist for exactly this, and one-to-one sessions exist beyond that. There is a version of starting here that fits how you feel about it.

Questions
Will everybody know it is my first time?
Stevie will, because you will have told him at the consult. The rest of the class was new once and most of them within the last year. Nobody is watching; they are busy.
Can I come and watch a class before I do one?
Yes, and it is the thing most nervous people find helpful. Message Stevie and he will tell you which class to come and stand at the back of.
What if I cannot do what everybody else is doing?
Then you do a version of it that you can. Every movement is scaled per person on the day, which is what "coached" means here. Nothing is called out.
Are there mirrors and a big gym floor?
No. It is a private gym inside an office building, with its own kit, changing space and toilets, and never more than 30 people in a session.
I am not fit enough to start yet.
That is the thing nobody is ever fit enough for. Start with the free ten-minute consult, which costs nothing and commits you to nothing, and Stevie will tell you straight whether a class or a Personal Training slot is the right first step.
What if I hate it?
Then you say so. The block has a start and a finish and there is no membership rolling on underneath it. Stevie would rather know in week one than find out in week eight.
Also worth reading: the beginners page, what your first group class is like, start here, and what other people said.
Still not sure? How small it is, and what the first hour looks like. Or the whole picture: the gym in Clydebank, explained.
