The classes

What happens in each one.

Every class is 50 minutes, coached from start to finish, and scaled on the day. Beginners train alongside regulars at their own level.

Mon 5:40pm · Tue 6:00am

Sanctuary Conditioning

The HIIT session. Fifty minutes of high-intensity intervals, the fastest fat loss on the timetable, scaled to your level on the day.

Tue 5:40pm · Wed 6:00am

Sanctuary Strength

Coached barbell and dumbbell strength work. Squat, press, pull and hinge, with your technique watched every session.

Wed 5:40pm · Fri 6:00am

Sanctuary Functional

Functional fitness for real life: carrying, lifting, moving well and building a body that holds up.

Sat 9:00am

Sanctuary Total Body

The Saturday session, and the reason it is called Total Body: strength, conditioning and functional work in one hour, then the weekend is yours.

What happens in the 50 minutes

Minute by minute, roughly.

No two sessions are identical, but the shape is. Here is how the 50 minutes usually run, so there are no surprises on your first night. The times are the shape of a session, not a stopwatch: a warm-up that needs longer gets longer.

Sanctuary Conditioning (HIIT)

  1. 0 to 8Warm-up: joints, then a build-up round at half pace.
  2. 8 to 38Intervals: work and rest in rounds, every move with a low-impact option. You pick the version, I pick the clock.
  3. 38 to 46Finisher: one short hard push, then it is done.
  4. 46 to 50Walk it off, breathe, stretch what you used.

Sanctuary Strength

  1. 0 to 8Warm-up and empty-bar or light-dumbbell practice of tonight's lifts.
  2. 8 to 33Main lifts: squat, press, pull or hinge, in sets, weight added when the technique earns it.
  3. 33 to 46Accessory work: the smaller movements that make the big ones better.
  4. 46 to 50Cool-down and a note of what you lifted, so next week beats it.

Sanctuary Functional

  1. 0 to 8Warm-up: mobility and a light circuit to wake everything up.
  2. 8 to 38Stations: carries, kettlebells, TRX, sled-style pushes and pulls, rotating in small groups.
  3. 38 to 46Conditioning block, scaled to the person, not the clock.
  4. 46 to 50Stretch and out the door.

Sanctuary Total Body (Saturday)

  1. 0 to 8Warm-up together. Saturday is the busiest class of the week.
  2. 8 to 42Everything: a strength piece, then a conditioning piece, upper and lower, in pairs or threes.
  3. 42 to 50Finisher, stretch, coffee if you are quick. Then the weekend is yours.

Coached, not just supervised

What makes these different from a leisure-centre class.

Your technique gets watched

I am not at the front doing the workout with you. I am walking the gym correcting squats, presses and hinges before bad habits set in.

Same faces every week

The classes are small enough that people know each other. That is why people keep turning up at 6am.

Tied to a plan

Classes sit inside the 8-Week Package with Personal Training, a nutrition plan and measurements at both ends.

Questions

About the classes.

How do I join the classes?

Classes are part of the 8-Week Package (£205), which gives you every class on the timetable plus small-group Personal Training sessions and a nutrition plan. Message Stevie to book a free consult and your first week.

How long is a class?

Fifty minutes, every class.

Which class should a beginner start with?

Any of them. Every class is coached and scaled on the day. If you are nervous, start with a Personal Training session mid-week, where the basics are taught in a smaller group, then join the classes.

Are there early morning classes in Clydebank?

Yes. 6am Sanctuary Conditioning on Tuesday, Sanctuary Strength on Wednesday and Sanctuary Functional on Friday. Done and showered before most people are up.

What is the difference between a class and Personal Training?

Classes are the set 50-minute sessions on the timetable. Personal Training sessions are smaller coached sessions, small-group or one-to-one, mornings 6am to 10am and late afternoons 4pm to 7:20pm, booked around you, with more individual attention on technique and your own programme.
