Should you train tonight?
Three sliders. I will tell you which session is next on the timetable and how hard to go at it, based on how you slept and how the day went. The answer is usually "come, but dial it down", not "stay in".
Tonight
- Under five hours of sleep two nights running: still come, lift lighter, skip the finisher. The sleep guide has the rest.
- Ill, feverish or coughing from the chest: stay home. That is the one time I will tell you not to come.
What the answer is based on
Three things decide it: how much you slept, how hard the day was, and whether anything hurts. Sleep is the one most people ignore and it is the one that changes what a session should be. The tool reads those against the next class on the timetable and tells you what to do with that session, not whether you are allowed to have one.
What to do with it: almost always come in and dial it down, not stay at home. A light session on a bad day keeps the habit and does you good; a missed session on a bad day makes the next one harder to get to. If something is sore rather than tired, say so when you arrive and the session gets changed around it: that is what a coached class is for. If the tool says stay in, it is saying it about tonight, not about the week.
