Stronger
for
football. Strength and conditioning for amateur and Sunday league footballers in Clydebank: coached barbell and dumbbell work for the legs and hips that win tackles, sprint and change-of-direction work, and a nutrition plan that gets you through ninety minutes. Off-season or in-season, in the 8-Week Package or one-to-one. Every session coached by Stevie.

  • Legs and hips first. Squats, hinges, lunges and single-leg work, coached every session. That is where tackles, jumps and the last twenty minutes come from.
  • Fast, not just strong. Sprint mechanics, change of direction and the Sanctuary Conditioning classes for the repeated efforts a match asks for.
  • Fewer pulled hamstrings. Hamstring and groin work built into every week, because the strongest player is the one still on the pitch in April.
  • Eat for ninety minutes. A nutrition plan with a protein target and a match-day routine, written for you, nothing to buy.
  • Fits round training and games. Classes from 6am and evenings, so a Tuesday and Thursday club night still works. The timetable.

How it runs

Off-season builds it, in-season keeps it.

Eight coached weeks either way, aimed at the season you are in.

Off-season

Three or four sessions a week: two strength, one conditioning, one Saturday Sanctuary Total Body. This is where you get stronger.

Pre-season

Strength holds, conditioning climbs, sprint work goes in. You turn up to pre-season already fit instead of using it to get fit.

In-season

Two sessions a week around games, heavy enough to keep the strength, short enough that you are fresh on Saturday.

Sanctuary Functional class.

Inside the gym

This is what a session looks like.

Filmed on a phone in the gym at Clydebank Business Park. Coached from the first minute, scaled to the person, nobody at the front doing the workout instead of watching yours.

Questions

Good to know.

Will lifting make me slow?

No. Stronger legs are faster legs. Slow comes from lifting badly, too much, or never sprinting, and none of those happen here.

I play Saturday. When do I train?

Monday or Tuesday heavy, Wednesday or Thursday lighter, nothing hard on Friday. I build that into the plan at the consult.

Can the whole team come?

Yes. Small groups train together in the 8-Week Package, and a team block is a good way to keep everyone honest. Training with mates.

Do you do rehab after injury?

Coaching alongside your physio, yes. Coming back from injury explains how that works.
