Two or three coached sessions a week is the training. Steps and fresh air between them are what move the tape measure. These are the routes the crew use, starting near Spectrum House.
Canal towpath, flat and traffic-free
The Forth and Clyde Canal runs alongside Clydebank Business Park. West takes you past Dalmuir to Old Kilpatrick and Bowling, with the Erskine Bridge overhead. East heads towards Yoker and on into Glasgow. Pick a distance, turn round, come back. Good for the 5k plan, buggies and bikes.
Dalmuir Park
Laps of the park, a duck pond, and enough of a slope to notice. Ten minutes on foot from the studio. Good for a walk after a 6am class before the day starts.
Kilpatrick Hills and the Braes
Up through Old Kilpatrick or Duntocher for the Kilpatrick Braes, the Slacks and the reservoirs. Proper hills, big views over the Clyde, and a lot more than 10,000 steps. Boots, a jacket and daylight. Save it for a Sunday.
The Clyde waterfront
Queens Quay and the riverside path give a flat loop with the Titan crane for company. Flat, lit, and fine after work in winter.
How to use them
- Aim for a daily step target, not a heroic Saturday. The tracker in the members area logs it.
- Walk the day after a heavy session. It helps the soreness more than sitting does.
- Bring a mate. The referral offer exists for a reason.
